About Us

Sophie's Stress Free Soirees is a fully-insured company, specializing in planning and executing children's parties and events. We have done birthdays, bar mitzvahs and bat mitzvahs, holiday parties and corporate events for 2 to 2000 people. At Sophie's Stress Free Soirees we aim to create a personalized party that makes your child's dreams come true.

Our goal is to remove the stress a party can cause so that you, the parent, can enjoy the party with your child.

Who is Sophie?

Sophie Maletsky founded the company in 1996. Trained as an actor, musician, and visual artist, Sophie spent 5 years working Off-Broadway in New York City before moving to San Francisco with her husband. Since then, Sophie has planned, organized, and entertained at over 2000 parties.

Freda Maletsky
Artist in residence

Freda graduated from the Tyler School of Art, Temple University, in 2003, with her BFA in painting. She has worked as both an art teacher and mural artist for the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program. She joined the SSFS team in 2005 and has become an integral part of the operations. Since her induction she has created countless props, backdrops, and goodies featured at Sophie's parties. We think she helps make our events unique and magical. Freda loves the creative freedom her position provides and enjoys joining events to install décor, run craft tables, and add her talents to face painting. Freda's favorite color is pink, and her favorite animal is a unicorn. She truly believes that a little glitter can solve the world's problems.

Simone Chavoor
Office Manager extraordinaire

Simone Chavoor grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area: born n’ raised in the East Bay and becoming a (kinda) grown-up in the city of San Francisco. After graduating as a Film and Broadcasting double major from San Francisco State University, she relocated to Los Angeles to break into The Biz.  Simone worked in many different areas of the entertainment industry, including development, management and representation, casting, and production before realizing that Hollywood was no longer holding her attention. Simone has recently returned to her city by the bay (cue Journey’s “whoa-oo-oo-oo-ooh”), and is looking forward to expanding her blogs Tiny-Ass Apartment, the Sociable Ghost, and whatever other endeavors that come her way.

Stephen Breen
Warehouse Manager

It's doubtful that we could even have a party if we didn't have Stephen. Often seen under a cover of boxes and mounds of fabric, Stephen joined the team in September of 2006, and since then, has been responsible for organizing the operation. He keeps everything in its place, neat, tidy, and clean. In his spare time Stephen enjoys creating elaborate role playing games, reading obscure Sci-Fi novels, and downloading old radio shows. Stephen is one of those magical souls who can find the creative art potential in a bottle cap or disposable tape dispenser. His ideas are unbelievable.

Scott Stohler
Business Manager
and sanity keeper

Scott has the unenviable job of being Sophie's husband. An artist in his own right, Scott is a video and film producer for the independent company Bay Package Productions. Scott is generous enough to lend his hand at our larger events where he often serves as stage manager and bouncer. He also makes a mean "prince charming" in a pinch, and makes the world's best playdough.
